  • The Town of Alden applied for a DNR grant to help pay for replacing the north landing concrete ramp and add a handicap accessible dock with a HC parking space. The grant application was not successful; therefore there will be no work at the  landing this year.  Alden is currently evaluating whether to re-apply for funding next year.  More information will follow as it becomes available.
  • A number of property owners in the Cedar Lake District are (or may be considering) renting their homes, or rooms in their homes, to other people, using services such as VRBO, AirBnB or directly themselves, as vacation rentals.  All property owners should be aware that there are restrictions and ordinances governing this activity.  Both Polk and St. Croix counties have ordinances for "Tourist Rooming Houses" that govern this use.  For anyone considering this activity please remember to check the Land Use Ordinances for each county.  Links to each county's website can be found in "Links", above.
